Fry dying and water change

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

Can I change water daily? Most of the fries are on top of the water and are dying one by one …

Reply:
1. Changing water everyday is good.
2. But most of the time, improper ways of managing the water could be a killer
3. The fries are very weak, slight change quality of water will cause stress and death
4. You will start changing the water, while the fries are hanging around the parents
5. If they scatter around the tank, very carefully siphon water to lower the water level
6. Always keep the water clean
7. Apply Methylene Blue is a must

Reply:
1. Both of them could be males. Males are very fond of dancing.
2. They force each of them to spawn but fail.

Can’t seem to keep fry alive. Change 25% water every 2 days. Fry at 1/4 inch. Please advise proper way to raise them. Must I feed them or can I leave them to feed on the parent?

Reply:
1. Leave the parents alone to take care the babies.
2. Beginning of 2nd week feed them with newly hatched brine shrimps.
3. While the babies are 1/2 an inch size, feed them with naphnia.
4. The following week you can start feeding them with worms.
