White Spot Infection

Treatment for discus white spot infection

The white spot will not be cleared in one or two days. Apply Methylene Blue solution plus salt. Raise temperature to 30 C.Carry on the treatment at least for one week. Suggestion is to do it for ten days. Though you killed the parasite in 7 days, the remaining eggs will hatch out and continue. To treat white spot you must have patience.Methylene Blue Solution is the best and safe. Salt – 100 liters of water add 1 tablespoonful.

The color of water should be blue in color. NO FEEDING: You are going to kill the fish if you do that because you are feeding and producing the white spot as well. Do not change water, as you will stress the fish. If water is dirty, you can siphon the dirt out. Only ¼.

Hi, one of my discus’ left eye has his black pupil turned to greyish and white. Half of the pupil is grey, a quarter is normal, and the remaining is white. The outer layer of the eye is not cloudy. I have recently applied two 5 days courses with the WaterLife Myzasin with 31 temp water, ph 6.3-6.5. The eye has not improved.

I have 9 discus in total:
    - 4 inch*2 (Ocean green blue diamond) Pair.
    - 4 inch (Blue diamond)
    - 5 inch (High Body Ocean green blue diamond)
    - 3 inch*5 (1 Snake skin, 2 High Body Turquoise, 2 Centre Stress Bar Emperor Wilds)

    I have housed these 9 together for 16months in a 70 litre water capacity. 30 * 15 * 12. Bare bottom. 2 Heaters 150w & 100w.

    I feed 4-5times a day:
Morning – frozen blood worms cube, frozen brine shrimp cube
Afternoon – dry flakes, tetra bits
Early evening – frozen shrimps cubes
Evening – frozen blood worms cube

Water changes daily at 60%. Filter pad changed weekly. Peat run in filter once a week.

Im afraid the eye will become blind. I suspect its bacteria? Any cure? Thanks.

Our guess is bacteria infection. Apply Acriflavine to help it heal.

If your discus are healthy, the darkening of face or the tail, can be signs of discus on heat ready to mate.
