Discus fish fertility

Written by allan on . Posted in Breeding

I have a young discus pair. The female lays many eggs and the male goes over the eggs. By the third day, all the eggs are white. I know that I have a young male but how long may it be before he is able to fertilise the eggs?

Reply:

Possibilities:

  1. Both are females
  2. Male still young
  3. Water quality
  4. Fungus attacks

The eggs should be fertilized within a minute before the egg-shells turn hard.
