Parent Discus Eating their eggs

Written by allan on . Posted in Breeding

My discus fish keeping eating their eggs just before they hatch or if they do hatch they eat them a day or two after hatching. How can I stop them from doing this?

Reply:

Parents eat eggs Cover the eggs with the wire mesh They will eat the eggs if no cover. It could be an environmental factor. Positioning of the tank is very important. They should not be disturbed while guarding their eggs. Otherwise they feel not secured they will eat their eggs. They are very emotional when guiding their babies. They will fight due to the jealousy. As a result they will eat up their eggs.
