Parent eating young

Written by allan on . Posted in Breeding

I have 2 mating pairs and they have spawned several times. Until now, there had been no babies and the eggs disappeared, so must have been eaten. However, we have now observed young hatching and immediately being eaten by the mother. Why is this? Is this likely to continue? Thanks.

Reply:
Create a proper location for them to breed.
They must not be frightened and disturbed.
Otherwise they will eat their young ones.
Yes they will continue eating them if they feel unsecured.
I suggest you separate them to make new pairs.
