Tank Size for Breeding

Written by allan on November 17th, 2011. Posted in Breeding

I am going to start breeding discus I have purchased 3 tanks one 7ft x 2ft x 2ft and 2 3ft x 1.5 x 1.5ft would these tank sizes be ok? and also what filter would you advise me to go for?

Reply:
The 7″ tank is very good for keeping 2″ – 6″ fish.
36″ x 18″ x 18″ is good for breeding.
A breeding tank must be bare with aeration.
During larvae stage need not filter.
When the babies are at least at .5 cm you can use sponge filters.
